The Superbowl is the biggest competition of the year. There is nowhere where more money is spent that can be seen on TV. And for those not interested in a veritable Olympics of TV marketing firms, there is a football game to be played as well.

This year, the Saints and the Colts are the two teams that will be playing an evening match this next Sunday in Miami and I am left with the unenviable task of picking a winner to what looks to be a tremendously competitive game.

There are all kinds of interesting matchups in this series, the most notable of which is "The Man"ning versus the Breeze. Yes, I tradmarked those, so reuse them at your own peril. (That and you'll likely get beaten up by anybody remotely knowledgeable for sounding so idiotic.) It's Gregg Williams versus sportsmanship and it's Reggie Bush versus that one Kardashian.

There are plenty of numbers that can be brought up in advance of this matchup. Those remotely interested will hear talk of PPG, INT, QB and all number of other interesting and relevant statistics. If there's one thing tht football fans have, or at least should have learned, by the time they are 14, numbers are neat, but they don't determine who wins games.

In the spirit of this knowledge, I've come up with some other reasons to support my pick. There have been 14 Super Bowls held in Florda and the AFC has two five game winning streaks in Florida Super Bowls, puntured by NFC streaks of an increasing amount of odd numbered games. The AFC, with the win of the Steelers last year finished it's winning streak and so now, it's the NFC's turn. Based on this eveidence, one can safely assume that the next five Florida Super Bowls will go the NFC's way. Advantage: Saints.

There are other reasons I have. Fate won't allow three Manning Super Bowls in one decade without exacting terrible revenge. You saw what happenned to Brady's knee after his three Super Bowls and I don't want anything to happen that might endanger the elder Manning's quest to break this Favre guy's records. Advantage: Saints

The Colts roster numbers summed are a larger total than are the Saints by over a hundred. Advantage: Saints

One thing keeps catching my eye however. This Manning fellow is pretty good.

Advantage and game: Colts

Highlander Prediction:

Colts 31 - Saints 21
